K-Tour wrapped up its first edition with an action-packed day of karting and sim racing.

On Wednesday, December 10, the OEXP K-Tour / Karting Tournament was successfully held. This one-day event brought together 40 drivers at Fórmula Kart Curridabat, establishing itself as a platform that combined indoor karting, in-person sim racing, and the final of the University Indoor Karting Championship (CIKU) into a single day of competition.
Produced by Omega Exp, the tournament was sanctioned by the Automobile Club of Costa Rica (ACCR) and backed by the Karting Racers Association (ACEK). It also received support from partners and sponsors—including DEEPAL, CONAPE, Cúbico Soluciones, Red Bull, HotLap, and Fórmula Kart—who contributed to the event's execution and the awarding of prizes to the participants.

🏆 AM-Junior Category
Agustín Golcher took first place, followed by Santiago Céspedes and Leonardo Dobles. Yussef Arias and Antonio Rojas also participated, rounding out a category marked by a high level of youth competition.
🏆 AM-Senior Light Category
Andrés Gómez was crowned champion, followed by Javier Sanabria and Esteban Vásquez. The category also featured Sebastián Verzola, Esteban Arias, Gabriel Leandro, Jonathan Albán, Sebastián González, Skottie Sequeira, and Rognny Sánchez, making it one of the largest fields in the event.
🏆 AM-Senior Heavy Category
Luis Fallas took the victory, joined on the podium by Roberto González and Carlos Hernández. Andrés Mesén and Luis D. Valerio rounded out the final standings.
🏆 AM-Open Category
Luis Fallas repeats as the winner, claiming the title in two categories and sharing the podium with Carlos García and Sebastián Rodríguez. Esteban Fallas rounded out the overall standings for the category.
🏆 PRO-Senior Category
Felipe Hernández claimed victory in the PRO-Senior category, followed by Mathias Hernández and Osvaldo Blanco. José Araya, Fabricio Montoya, and Emilio Wong also competed in a category demanding a high level of technical skill, where the professionals gave no quarter—to the point that penalties were issued for aggressive overtaking maneuvers, albeit always within the bounds of sportsmanship.
🏆 CIKU – University Indoor Karting Championship Final
The CIKU final was officially held as part of the K-Tour, serving as one of the event's highlights. Alessandro Grande took the win in the final, followed by Maggio Cercone and Sebastián Rodríguez.
However, based on the total points accumulated throughout the season, Sebastián Rodríguez was crowned the Overall Champion of the University Indoor Karting Championship (CIKU), securing the title for the competition's inaugural edition.
The CIKU category featured participants Alessandro Grande, Maggio Cercone, Sebastián Rodríguez, Ismael Barquero, José P. Vega, Marcelo Coto, Matthew Montoya, Denise Mann, and Pablo A. Guasch, marking a competitive conclusion that truly represented the spirit of university karting.
🎮 SimRacing Tournament
The event's digital component also played a leading role. The in-person SimRacing tournament was won by Matthew Montoya, who triumphed after a demanding elimination phase, reinforcing the integration of physical and virtual competition that distinguishes the K-Tour.
A format that bridges competition and recreation
The K-Tour has established itself as a platform for promoting recreational karting without sacrificing competitive rigor, offering certified timing, clear formats, and a comprehensive experience for amateur drivers, university students, and experienced competitors.
